Born in Passaic, N.J., May 25.

1941-43

Newark Evening School of Fine and Industrial Arts.

1946-48

Apprentice graphic designer, Alexander Ross Design Studio.

1948

Assistant graphic designer to Herb Lubalin at Sudler Hennessey, Inc.

1948-49

Art Director, Monogram Art Studio.

1949-52

Director of Design and Typography, Empire State Craftsman, Inc.

1952-60

Director of Design and Typography, The Composing Room, Inc.

1960-62

President and Creative Director, Graphic Arts Typographers, Inc.

1960-64

U.S. Delegate, Association Typographique Internationale (ATypI).

1963-66

Member, Board of Directors, American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA).

1963-67

President, Aaron Burns & Company, a division of Rapid Typographers, Inc.

Died July 16. His wife, Florence, had died in 1990.

Aaron is survived by his daughter Laurie Burns and his son Andrew.
