Kendo Canadian wireless phone service provider Clearnet recently launch a nationwide ad campaign promoting their new digital PCS system. The campaign, which was created by Taxi Advertising and Design in Toronto, features natural images and Zen-like sayings extolling the virtues of wireless phone service. The campaign took many forms: billboards, posters, ads in magazines and newspapers, even mousepads. To provide a Japanese calligraphic feel to the text of the ads, Taxi chose ITC Kendo, a sketchy calligraphic typeface from British designer Phill Grimshaw. PabloIn promoting their newest luxury cruise ship, the Paul Gaugin, executives at the Radisson Seven Seas Cruises wanted to invoke the feeling of old world European civilization meeting the exotic shores of Tahiti and Polynesia. In an extensive ad campaign, they chose ITC's Pablo typeface as the counterbalance to the lush imagery of sandy beaches and green mountains. By coincidence, Pablo is actually styled on the handwriting of painter Pablo Picasso. Click on the image at left to see the ad campaign. Or click on a link below to to learn more about Pablo:

CrilleeFor many allergy sufferers, the drug Claritin has allowed them to again see with clear eyes and breathe with clear noses. When deciding on a corporate look for the Claritin logo, officials at the Schering Corporation called upon the Crillee Italic typeface to bring a refreshing identity their new antihistamine product. Promoted heavily in magazines, on television, and on buses and subways, the Claritin logo has became closely associated with this new drug and has brought Crillee, a typeface designed in 1980 by Dick Jones, back into public view. There are four weights and styles available in the Crillee family. Click on the link below to see a character showing for each typeface:
